County Visitors Center, 2006
Make
your first stop the Chester County Visitors Center! Listed on the National
Register of Historic Places, this Quaker meetinghouse was built circa
1865. Located in front of the main driving entrance into Longwood Gardens,
the Chester County Visitors Center offers personal assistance to help
you find something to do, get something to eat or set-up a place to stay
for the night.
Inquire
about current events, area attractions, shops, restaurants, lodging and
more. The Visitors Center has hundreds of complimentary brochures. We
sell area memorabilia, related merchandise, and offer complimentary water
and lemonade during the warmer months. The Visitors Center also includes
a free exhibit documenting the building's involvement in the "Underground
Railroad".
Chester
County is accessible by air, train, bus or car. All major airlines fly
into Philadelphia International Airport, and taxi, limousine, shuttle
service and rental cars are available. Amtrak provides rail service to
30 th Street Station in Philadelphia, as well as to Wilmington, DE. SEPTA
is the regional local carrier providing bus routes into West Chester,
and limited regional rail lines into Chester County. For more information

web site. The Brandywine Valley is easily accessible by car via major
routes I-95, I-76, I-276, US Routes 30, 202 and 322 and the Pennsylvania
and New Jersey Turnpikes.
Our
Visitors Center staff can provide you with brochures, maps, general information
and much more about Chester County and the surrounding Brandywine Valley
area.
The
Visitors Center is open 363 days a year (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas )from 10am -5pm daily.

The
Chester County Visitors Center was built in 1865 as the Longwood Progressive
Meeting House, and was known as an important stop on the "Underground
Railroad". For many years, the building served as a local house
of worship for Quakers.
There
is a small exhibit in the back of the building, today, consisting of a
collection of memorabilia, celebrating the rich history of the Longwood
Progressive Meeting House,
now
the Chester County Visitors Center.
