Matt DiFilippo Moves To Germany

Matt DiFilippo started with the Visitors Bureau back in the summer of 1999 hired by Jesse Walters as a paid intern at Westtown Road. He returned the following summer, 2000, and picked-up the bookkeeping duties until he left again in December 2000. Then, again, in September 2003 he returned, this time for a three-year stint starting as Director of Membership, and eventually promoted to Director of Communications. Well, he's leaving again.

More than anything else, Matt enjoyed making so many contacts and friends during his stay at the Visitors Bureau. From hoteliers and major attraction contacts to small mom and pop store owners and B&B owners Matt really appreciated the many members the Visitors Bureau and respected them all.

Matt's flying off to Germany, today, Monday, October 9 to start a new life with his girlfriend in a small village called Longuich on the Mosel River - Germany's beautiful wine country. He wishes to thank everyone for their support and looks forward to running into some of you in the future.

October 2006, Highlight of Chadds Ford Historical Society

The Chadds Ford Historical Society has roots that go back to the 1960's when a group of concerned citizens bonded together to purchase and restore John Chads' 1725 home on old Route 100. Today the Society opens the John Chads' House and the Barns-Brinton House (on Route 1 in Pennsbury Township) to the public on summer weekends and offers individual and group tours year-round by appointment.

As well as these special buildings are known for their historic and architectural significance, the general public probably knows and visits the Society most often for its fall fund-raising events. These popular events not only gather the community together but draw people from surrounding counties and states. The Society's autumn season begins with Chadds Ford Days in September, followed by The Great Pumpkin Carve in October and the Candlelight Christmas house tour on December 2 of this year.

Folks can kick-off the haunting season with the All Hallows Eve Preview Party on October 25 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. They will be celebrating in the Pumpkin Patch with live entertainment, a bonfire, light supper donated by Carrabba's Italian Grill, wine donated by Folly Hill Vineyards and beer by Victory Brewing Company. The cost is $35 per person or $50 per couple, reservations required.

Pumpkin Carve excitement continues October 26 through 28 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Artists gather on the evening of the 26 th to carve humble pumpkins into fantastic works of their imagination. All three delightful evenings feature the giant candlelight pumpkins, live entertainment, hay rides and hot food by the Concordville-Chadds Ford Rotary.
