“We have it all” is so greatly over-used but I’m telling you, Brandywine Valley and Greater Philadelphia can knock a real shopper’s proverbial socks off! From electronic retail giant QVC (with a cool store onsite) and the largest retail mall to the most unique galleries and shops, the holidays are all wrapped up in the Brandywine Valley.
Shopping is synonymous with the season and all shoppers yearn for Quality, Value and Convenience. QVC customers and guests receive just that, whether shopping via television and internet or visiting QVC Studio Park. QVC Studio Park lies in the heart of the Brandywine Valley and has become a popular destination for thousands of visitors interested in live television broadcasting. The QVC Studio Tour is a one of a kind guided walking tour through QVC’s state of the art broadcasting facility. Guests learn how products are sourced, tested, brought to life on air, and delivered to millions of QVC customers. At the end of the tour the QVC Studio Store is open for browsing and shopping for famous QVC brands.
All season long West Chester is a charming and relaxing way to shop for the holidays. Fir-trimmed shops and boutiques featuring apparel, jewelry, art, gifts and food items line this walk-able main street town. Plenty of great restaurants and pubs offer delicious breaks to recharge and refresh. Cozy and comfortable hotels and bed & breakfasts welcome guests at the end of long touring and shopping marathons. Black Friday and Small Business Saturday will be a special time with free parking at garages, sweet deals and plenty of places for lunch, happy hour, dinner and late night fun. Each Saturday, the Artisan Exchange offers customer’s artisanal foods and gift items in a European-style market.
Shopping mecca King of Prussia Mall, the east coasts largest retail complex, is a short drive north from West Chester. Here, find more than 400 stores and services for every taste and budget, including Lord & Taylor, Macy’s, Sax Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom’s. Additionally bargains galore can be found at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets in nearby Limerick, an upscale outlet venue with an impressive collection of designer and name-brand merchandise. Featured brands include Neiman Marcus Last Call, Calvin Klein, Coach Outlet, J.Crew Factory, Michael Kors, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Kate Spade New York, UGG Australia and more.
Kennett Square, known for being the Mushroom Capital of the World, is another town filled with specialty shops, galleries and boutiques. Artwork, clothing, jewelry, pottery, rare books, wines, teas, mushrooms (a regional specialty) and more make Kennett Square a gift-buyers paradise. Visit The Woodlands at Phillips and see how mushrooms are grown, pick up fresh mushrooms and shop for holiday gift baskets. Shop Black Friday and Small Business Saturday and have a cup of coffee while your gifts are wrapped for free by the friendly and helpful staff. You can even pick up craft beer or a bottle of wine at one of our local breweries or wineries and add it to a basket of goodies from The Woodlands. In fact, the Brandywine Valley is home to a variety of vineyards and wineries where you can purchase a bottle (or two!) for your holiday table, hostess gifts and general holiday cheer!
In addition, some of the hottest must visits this holiday season in Chester County are in the towns of Exton and Devon. Opened in late August, Devon Yards is a six-acre lifestyle center by Urban Outfitters, Inc. and features Terrain, Anthropologie, BLHDN as well as an upscale Italian restaurant and more casual Terrain Café. And within the Fairfield Place Shopping Center is Pennsylvania’s second Homesense. Opened this fall, this new chain managed by TJK Companies has been described as a Home Goods on steroids and features furniture and home décor.
