A Longwood Christmas runs from November 24, 2016 through January 8, 2017. Wander through Longwood Gardens’ Conservatory, one of the world’s largest greenhouse structures, filled with magnificent trees: one adorned with red, gold and green glass ornaments, another 30 – foot floral tree created with hundreds of poinsettias, and a towering 18 foot Fraser Fir decorated with a garland of real musical instruments. Daily sing-alongs and special performances fill the Conservatory with festival cheer. Holiday magic continues outside as stars twinkle, colorful fountains dance to holiday music and a half-million lights brighten the night. Tickets are for specific dates and times and sell out quickly.
Yuletide at Winterthur will showcase Henry Francis du Pont’s ancestral home in seasonal splendor from November 19, 2016 through January 8, 2017. The Yuletide tour features sparkling trees and Currier & Ives inspired scenes along with a new doll “mansion.” This special 18 -room structure, inspired by Queen Mary’s dollhouse, is fully decorated with wreaths, candles and trees. Come revel in the whimsy and warmth of Yuletide.
The Holidays at Hagley: “A Child’s Delight” runs from November 25, 2016 through January 1, 2017. The 1803 du Pont ancestral home, Eleutherian Mills, this year showcases how the du Pont family celebrated the holiday from the children’s point of view with toys, games and dolls. Special Twilight Tours, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from December 13 through 28 will provide a rare opportunity to view the residence during the evening hours, illuminated by glowing lights.
Catch the holiday spirit with a visit to Nemours Mansion & Gardens November 19, 2016 through January 8, 2017. This world-famous du Pont estate is beautifully decorated for the holidays with antiques from its collection. Elegantly decorated trees, garlands and sprays; hand-painted ornaments, a manger scene, and original toys from the du Pont estate, complete this festive setting.
