Chester County Cheese Tour

Could you eat cheese for 3 meals a day, 7 days a week? This is a trip for you! The Brandywine Valley is home to a number of artisanal cheese makers whose passion for what they do shows in their delicious cheeses. Follow this itinerary for a fun weekend of eating cheese and exploring Chester County!

Day 1

  • The first stop on this tour is September Farm. This country market makes their own cheeses, meats, and baked goods in the beautifully rural Honey Brook. At the market you can buy their products as well as other local goods or grab a bite to eat at their delicious sandwich shop.
  • After visiting the farm, take a trip to St. Peter’s Village and discover the charming little town or hike through French Creek State Park. If you love wine, visit J. Maki Winery right in Elverson.
  • Arrange a visit to Amazing Acres Goat Dairy farm and meet the goats that produce their delicious cheese. Visitors are welcome at this farm, but make sure you plan ahead and send an email to so that the farmers know to expect you.
  • For dinner, head west to Exton for a selection of yummy Chester County restaurants. Try eating at one of Restaurant Row’s great eateries (including Suburban Brewing’s restaurant) or head to Downingtown to visit the first Victory Brewing brewpub and restaurant.
  • Need a place to spend the night? Both Holiday Inn Express Exton and Hampton Inn Exton are very close to Exton and Downingtown.

Day 2

  • In the morning, grab brunch at one of the many breakfast joints in town. Right in Exton, there’s Nudy’s Café and Brickside Grill.
  • Next, schedule a visit with Yellow Springs Farm by calling 610-827-2014, or emailing, before your visit. This farm is known for their goat dairy as well as their vast collection of native plants, which are also for sale.
  • In the afternoon, head to Kennett Square and explore the historic district with all the food and shopping it has to offer. Stop in at Talula’s Table to buy cheeses from local and international cheesemakers, including a few Chester County farms that don’t offer visits. Pick up some cheeses to bring home and gift to your friends!
