Downingtown Friends Annual Fall Festival
October 12, 2019
Downingtown Friends Meeting will hold its annual Friends Fall Festival on October 12 from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. on the historic grounds of Downingtown Friends Meeting on East Lancaster Avenue (Business Route 30, just west of Wegman’s) in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Families have gathered here for over 40 years to enjoy the music, delicious foods, a variety of activities for children, and plant, craft, and white-elephant sales. It’s simply an enjoyable day for families to participate in activities aimed at fun for everyone–and all practically in your own back yard.
As one of the largest fall festivals in the region, our Friends Fall Festival offers families a day of wholesome fun and value. A special supervised area includes children’s crafts and games. There’s also a hay wagon ride and exceptional face painting for both kids and adults.
Listen to a mix of live folk and rock music, shop our craft vendors, feast on our famous Festival foods, and discover finds from among the hundreds of items in the Friends Mercantile, our Festival’s indoor sale. Learn more about our Meeting’s history from our Quaker Heritage Exhibit inside, featuring antique Quaker clothing and memorabilia and attend a re-enactment of the first wedding held in the Meeting House in 1806.
At 2:00 P.M. an authentic reenactment of an 1806 Quaker wedding will begin with the wedding party assembling outside and welcoming visitors to attend the wedding inside the Meeting House. There will be plenty of time for you to take photographs with the bride and groom and wedding party, all dressed in authentically reproduced early 19th-century Quaker garb.
