The borough kicks off the holidays with a celebration-packed weekend December 1 & 2. Catch the QVC West Chester Christmas Parade filled with dancers, musicians, and St. Nick himself, dish with the big guy the next day at Breakfast With Santa at Chester County Historical Society. Holiday shopping is a pleasure in West Chester; enjoy live carol singers, hot cider and cocoa, and shops dressed in their holiday best. Nearby QVC Studio Tour rounds out the perfect weekend; take this fascinating behind the scenes tour of live television broadcasting and be sure to score big on treats for family, friends and even yourself when you pick up presents at QVC.

Charming State Street welcomes the season with special holiday weekends starting November 24 at the Holiday Light Parade. Watch for strolling carolers, carriage rides, and specials in the neighborhood’s many shops and restaurants. Just down the road Longwood Gardens is bright and shiny for the holidays during A Longwood Christmas, featuring a French-inspired Christmas with fanciful topiaries, wreaths and holiday tress resplendent with sparkling crystal ornaments. Outside over a half-million twinkling lights brighten the night as carolers stroll the gardens and colorful fountains dance. Don’t miss the magic. Purchase a special Christmas in Kennett admission ticket to the gardens and enjoy the free shuttle between town and Longwood running Saturdays from November 25 through December 30.

Christmas marches into town via Bridge Street when the borough hosts its annual Christmas Parade on December 1, followed immediately by the lighting of the downtown tree. The following week December 9 the celebration continues, this time at the popular Firebird Festival, a unique event featuring live music, craft and food vendors, and at nightfall the torching of a massive phoenix sculpture. Stop by later in the month to catch classic holiday films in the restored Colonial Theatre.
