This route starts at The Inn at Grace Winery in Glen Mills, Delaware County, and heads west along the Chester County and Delaware County lines, to Penns Woods, Chaddsford and Galer Estate wineries and Stargazers Vineyard. It’s a perfect weekend trip but could be done in a day, with the bookend wineries no more than only a 35-minute ride from each other. For those who have some extra time, take a left on Route 841 and head south to just short of the Maryland line, where Old Stone Cider is located.
The area north and west of Philly is dotted with wineries and a mix of scenic venues and quality product. Several are major spots for weekly entertainment, one is a hub for the arts. Another is among the state’s oldest and one of its best-known, all of them close enough to hop-scotch in a day or take a full weekend if you care to linger at each stop. I added the cidery near the Pennsylvania-Maryland border as another product option; it’s something I’d like to do more with more cideries and distilleries opening their doors around the region.
