Through the fall The Brandywine Museum of Art presents By Design: The Worlds of Betsy James Wyeth, an extraordinary look into the life and work of Betsy James Wyeth. This unique exhibition offers a deep exploration of her pioneering work as a designer of immersive environments and the influential partnership she shared with husband, Andrew Wyeth. Explore the creative influence Betsy Wyeth had with the artist and how it shaped some of the iconic Wyeth landscapes of the Brandywine Valley in Pennsylvania's countryside and beyond. The exhibition is co-organized by The Brandywine with the Colby College Museum of Art and The Farnsworth Art Museum in Maine and is on view concurrently at all three institutions. At Brandywine Museum of Art, By Design: The Worlds of Betsy James Wyeth will be on view through January 10, 2027.

Brandywine Museum of Art is also known for its unparalleled collection of works by three generations of the Wyeth family. The Wyeth’s were known for their love of Halloween and founded a seasonal artistic tradition in the Brandywine Valley. It began in the 1970's when Andrew and Jamie Wyeth began carving pumpkins to decorate a local restaurant. Decades later, the tradition continues, albeit outdoors, at Chadds Ford Historical Society's Great Pumpkin Carve, October 15-17, 2026. Over 70 talented artists carve giant pumpkins which will be lit and displayed all three nights. Great local fare, live music and hayrides add to the festive fall celebration.
