Spring is a season of beauty and rebirth after a cold winter, so it’s no surprise that is also the season to celebrate the arts. From fine arts by top American artists to an amazing free studio art tour, Chester County’s Brandywine Valley is an art lovers paradise.
The Brandywine Museum of Art, located on the banks of the beautiful Brandywine River, is a restored 19th century grist mill that is home to a treasure trove of art. The museum is known internationally for its fine collection American illustration, still life and landscapes. Most notably, the Museum showcases the work of three generations of the Wyeth family: N.C., Andrew, and Jamie. Beginning April 3 through November 24, 2024 three studio tours are open to the public: The Andrew Wyeth Studio, The N.C. Wyeth House & Studio, and the Kuerner Farm. Tours are a fantastic way to immerse into the world of these prolific artists. Transportation from the Museum is provided and the tours require a separate admission.

Jamie Wyeth’s unique work is explored in the upcoming exhibition Jamie Wyeth: Unsettled on view from March 16 to June 9, 2024. Unsettled will center on darker imagery - whether in character or landscape. Often the beauty of art is the power to evoke emotion in the beholder. This exhibition highlights Jamie’s visual storytelling with works that elicit a sense of anxiety or trepidation.
Art and history converge at Historic Yellow Springs as the Yellow Springs Arts Show takes place in this charming village April 27 through May 12, 2024. This juried show showcases the works of more than 200 Chester County-area artists. The exhibition boasts over 3,500 works of art, spanning a variety of media including ceramics, sculpture, watercolor, pastels, and oil. Explore this living historic village and plan a lunch or snack at The Cafe and Mecantile in the onsite Jenny Lind House.
Nothing is better for those who love art, and especially those who collect great art, than a weekend in May to meet artists in their studios and a chance to own unique masterworks. This is the experience available at the Chester County Studio Tour, May 18 & 19, 2024. Over 100 artists will exhibit different mediums, such as painting, sculpture, jewelry, photography, clay, glass, paper and fiber in studios and creative work spaces. All the artists will be on hand to share their studios, discuss their work, and meet buyers and browsers alike. The 2024 Chester County Studio Tour is free and open to the public
The towns and villages of Chester County are filled with eclectic shops and galleries showcasing local arts. The vibrant town of West Chester is home to a thriving arts and gallery community celebrated with two annual Gallery Walks. The Spring Gallery Walk is a self-guided exploration taking place on Friday, May 3. Exhibit spaces welcome guests with refreshments and one on one time with owners/artists.
